Description

Reference for my Star Wars: Exodus character Sarsa Tenko, an independent security droid technician living in Imperial space.

....humanoids that have no tutorials on how to draw them. My nightmare.

--------

Alias/Nicknames:
Age: 24
Birth Year: 51 ABY
Gender: Male
Species: Otolla Gungan
Place of Origin: Ord Mantell
Affiliation: Independent-- Imperial Citizen
Rank: n/a (Droid Technician, Security Contractor)
Force Sensitive: ...no? Maybe? He's never been bothered to check.

Height: 5'6"
Weight: 156 lbs
Hair Color: n/a
Skin Color: Pink

Appearance: Sarsa stands somewhat shorter than the average Gungan, not that most of the people he hangs around would know. He is of a reasonable build for someone of his profession, though the poverty in his youth still shows on his form. Sarsa prefers to dress comfortably most of the time, generally in brown, navy blue, or other dark colors, and is rarely if ever seen in formal situations. Tends to open carry his carbine slung in a holster across his lower back, wherever it is legal and reasonable to do so.

Sarsa is stone-faced and quiet much of the time, though beyond that he carries himself no differently than anyone else. He is plain, to put his appearance into a word, but he will usually stand out in a crowd on account of his race regardless. He does appear much cleaner than most would expect of his profession.

Sarsa has spent much of his life away from his Gungan brethren, and so he lacks the usual "Meesa, Yousa" accent. It is still present and will arise from time to time, but is very heavily faded.

Personality: Sarsa is introverted outside of his job and relatively serious while on the clock, though one can never quite describe him as any 'intense' even on duty. Indeed, much of his emotion is conservative and subdued. He seems to go about things with either a bored- or serious-sounding drawl, but make no mistake. He does have emotions, he just has a hard time expressing them sometimes. A lot. Most of the time... (A few traits that form the basis of who your character is)

Strengths and Flaws: Sarsa is as unfeeling and efficient as the machines he works on when he wants to be. He has adjusted to the danger he's exposed to in his security guard life well, and is rather hard to surprise. He's even more difficult to rile up or overwhelm because of his subdued nature, able to focus on complex tasks while sounds roar around him. His likely reaction to a hopeless situation would likely be an annoyed sigh before he goes about his work. The times his seemingly-cold demeanor does decide to let emotions through they're mainly positive ones.

Unfortunately, Sarsa isn't quite as unfeeling and efficient as the machines he works on when he doesn't want to be. He claims and acts like he only cares about the job like any good "bounty hunter" should, but he has seemingly random bursts of morality or altruism that have clouded his judgement on a number of occasions. This is not usually too much of an issue for someone whose job it is to protect people, but the urgency of others has an uncanny tendency of throwing him off. Also, while he is technically a 'bounty hunter' and is listed with the Guild, his skills have something to be desired. His training and skill are about on par with your average private-sector mercenary, padded out with the help of his droids, and not much more.

Notice that he will only ever use weapons that can subvert or otherwise ignore lightsabers. It's a sensible pick, but his focus is rather telling of a certain fear.

History:

The story of the Tenko extended family is one of flight, flight, and more flight. During the Clone Wars, the mercantile-inclined family sided with the Confederacy and fled their homeworld of Naboo with a few like-minded others. They then continued to planet-hop with Confederate cells for as long as they existed even after the war had finished. Afterwards that, they fled the influence of the Empire by traveling along the more remote reaches of the northern Outer Rim. From there they narrowly avoided the invasions of the Yuuzhan Vong. For decades they had simply been on the run from whatever enemy was chasing them at the time. Their travels were not easy and they were not cheap. Over the generation and a half of fleeing their numbers had dwindled to a single family and whatever wealth the merchant family initially began with when they left Naboo had dried up.

Traveling with the Confederacy had its benefits in the long term, however. The family served as mechanics for the Droid army and kept this skillset once their time with the CIS had ended. They funded their travels by acting as droid technicians and other types of miscellaneous handymen. It was just barely able to provide for them over the years, and it was never satisfactory. When things finally began to settle down in the Galaxy, one of the last remaining Gungans of these wanderers, a female named Di Tenko, settled onto Ord Mantell with her husband Kart in the mid 40s ABY. Here, they expanded their handymen job to a formal, if small, robotics firm by the name of Tenko Mekaneeks. The oceans provided easy access to water, the rural farming communities had few full-time technicians of their specialty, and the extensive and unguarded industrial junkyards provided plenty of free material to work with. By no means were they rich, but at least they could finally afford a stable existence.

Sarsa was born during this time, and spent the majority of his childhood helping out with the family business. His life was relatively peaceful for the most part. It could even have been called idyllic when compared alongside his immediate ancestors'. All seemed well, until in his teen years his parents were both struck ill. Scavenging in the poisonous Scraplands, it seemed, had finally taken their toll on the Gungans' health. Unfortunately, no local doctors were extensively skilled at dealing with the particulars of their alien biology, and they succumbed to their diseases shortly afterwards.

Sarsa was only 16 at the time of his parents' deaths. He could not handle running Tenko Mekaneeks on his own and the company collapsed within a year of his inheriting it. With nowhere else to go, he moved into the crime-ridden capital city of Worlport in search of employment. He eventually managed to find work, again as a droid technician, for a private security firm. His job was rough, put simply. He was often given tasks that went outside of his job description. Occasionally he would even be forced into situations involving violence before he even turned 18. By then, however, he was beginning to adapt to life at the new firm and was able to grow from his experiences with them. Over time he became used to his new environment and approached his quasi-mercenary work with something that for him could almost be called enthusiasm.

And then the Federation started its campaign against the Empire.

Sarsa had always been a little wary about the nearby Federation and what he saw as their needlessly aggressive actions before, but now their attacks were right on his doorstep. Like his family before him he packed up his things and fled deeper into Imperial space to avoid being at the front of the war-- and none too soon. Ord Mantell was the site of one of the worst battles of the conflict. By the time the fighting had stopped, most of Sarsa's friends that had not fled with him were nowhere to be found, and he was loathe to return to Ord Mantell to look for them himself.

Like with his rough childhood, Sarsa chose to grow from this experience rather than to be defeated by it. He settled onto the Imperial ocean world of Glee Anselm where he refounded Tenko Mekaneeks, this time as both a droid maintenance and security firm in one. He deeply regretted not being there when his home was overtaken by the now-Sith Federation and swore that he wouldn't simply leave at the first sign of conflict like that ever again.

His experiences in losing his home have since made him solidly loyal to the Empire and both fearful and hateful of the Federation. Nowadays he flits about in Imperial space providing security to ships and property that need it and can pay him for it. He prepares himself for the day that conflict with the Sith will one day again ensue so that he can do his part in protecting his home. He quietly hopes, however, that that day never comes.

(Four Paragraphs Minimum)

Other:
-Sarsa is left handed

Possessions:

Weapons:

x1 Imperial Sonic Blaster
Range: 110 Meters
Capacity: 20 charges

A sonic blaster that has served as the standard personal defense weapon of Imperial commissioned officers since almost the beginning of the Empire. Accurate and reasonably powerful, if not as powerful as other sonic weapons at range. Can be calibrated to work underwater.

It's actually a civilian-legal sporting variant. One which Sarsa upgraded to have much the same effectiveness as the real deal so... effectively a real one. Useful in the off chance that he has to deal with force-sensitive raiders from the nearby Sith Federation, not that he has had to yet...

x0 Heavy Ion Pistol 'Lightning'
Range: 130 Meters
Capacity: 10 charges

A cut-down ion carbine. Originally of the model used by Jawas to capture droids, Sarsa has modified his to exceedingly overdraw on its power pack to create a much more potent charge. Fires a ball of ionic plasma that explodes in a burst of electricity upon impact. Can work in a vacuum.

...well, he did have one. When that pirate that boarded a vessel Sarsa was protecting said that he could shoot the gun right out of the Gungan's hand, what was he supposed to do? Believe him? Sarsa's lightning pistol was broken beyond repair, and he's on the market to buy a new one. Thankfully they're not that hard to find.

x1 Handheld Static Energy Shield
An energy shield made in the vein of his ancestral Gungan warriors. He naturally lacks ready access to the Naboo Bubble Wort, and so has had to outfit it to use much more standard deflector technology. Never the less it serves much the same purpose. His is fitted with a boss to protect the hands from the front, wherein is also mounted the shield generator. His standard tactic is to stick the muzzle of his gun through the screen of the shield so that he may fire from nearly perfect cover.

Armor
Security Technician Outfit

A simple technician's outfit mostly made with comfort and freedom of movement in mind. Basic utility belts, a backpack, and pouches allow for ease of access to most of his tools whenever he should need them, said belts also being able to accept weapon holsters. While some hard plating and reasonably potent shield generators are clearly visible, it's obvious that protection was a secondary focus. [/i]

Tools, other items:
Universal Droid Field Maintenance Kit
Various spare parts, multitools, and electronics are attached to his technician outfit. This kit is specialized towards droid maintenance, which requires a finer set of implements than would be found in most other tool sets. This set is primarily for field work; tools required for more advanced repairs can be found on board his ship.

2x HXZ-1 Immobilizer Police Droids
Base-level security droids that were the original assets that Sarsa's father used to turn Tenko Meckaneeks into a security firm. Sarsa generally only uses them on contract jobs, preferring to leave them in the ship to cut down on costs. Painted dark blue, and using sonic weapons rather than blasters.

1x Co-Pilot, Robotic Assistance AI
Co-Pilot is, in effect, an AI that can project itself over a limited number of bodies. In actuality, it is an R4 Agromech with an upgraded brain and a heavily customized ship interface port. Called "Co" for short, he can appear in one of his three "forms" at once depending on circumstance.

-R4 Agromech Droid
Co-Pilot's true body. Note that this is an agromech droid, rather than the usual astromech. This means that his utility inside of a starship as far as navigation is extremely limited, but he has extensive knowledge of the operation of most ground-based vehicles. This particular model is outfitted with an aftermarket, upgraded droid brain which has been filled with knowledge of droid repair. Equipped with a variety of multitools, as well as a small Sonic blaster pistol.
-Basic Light Freighter
It took some work, but Co-Pilot can interface with Sarsa's starship to gain access to the ship's systems. Co-Pilot is not as effective as an astromech in this regard as he lacks proper interstellar navigation software. He can however perform diagnostics on hardware, control the ship's meager weapons, utilize the communication relay, and so on. Any task that could be performed in a ground vehicle, Co-Pilot can perform onboard the ship. Tasks exclusive to starships, such as utilizing the hyperspace drive, he cannot.
-LV8 Guard Droid
A heavily customized LV8 Guard Droid. This LV8 possesses a copy of Co-Pilot's AI (referred to as 'Co-2' when both are present) which can merge with the original in a hive mind-like manner when both units are nearby each other, or be directly linked with Co when his agromech body is plugged into the ship's communications array. The latter configuration thereby gives Co-2 the processing power of both its own body and its originals' upgraded droid brain.
Like most of Sarsa's droids, this LV8 possesses sonic rifles in its arms rather than laser ones. It also possesses a set of astromech-style multitools in a panel on its stomach which it can use when linked with Co through the tightbeam.

Co-Pilot can also keep in touch with Sarsa via a communicator in his toolkit. He could also potentially interface with electronics such as other empty droid models with his tight-beam, provided that they have the equipment to receive it.

Vehicles/Starship:

Basic Light Freighter
Armament: 2x Rotating Medium Blaster Cannons
Shields: Medium
Minimum Crew: 1 (Recommended: 2, Optimal: 5)
A nothing-fancy, basic freighter design that acts all at once as Sarsa's workshop, storefront, and home. Fast and small enough to be unattractive to and evasive of pirates, but big enough on the inside to carry a fair load of machinery and cargo.

Lightsaber Forms: None to speak of.
Skill: n/a

Knows a little bit about fighting with a vibrosword from his security training. Not that he has one.

Hand to Hand Combat:
Skill: Moderate

As a security technician, Sarsa knows a deal of martial arts that are essential to his job.
