Description

Application for :iconneopet-crossing:

Phew! The Final re-vamp of the very first official OC I ever made! He's gone through I think at least 8 or 9 complete rebirths since I made him back in 2004, but I think I can finally safely say that this is his final form! At least, his civilian one.

For him in his fighting garb/main traveling outfit: (coming soon)

-----

Name: Kyle

Gender: Male

Age: 21

Neopet: Aisha

Color: Blue (formerly Island)

D.O.B: July 21, BN -6

Personality: Nervous

Catchphase: “…OK!”

Job: Police Officer (Off-Duty Soldier)

Petpet: n/a

General and Personality:

Kyle is a reserved and quiet aisha soldier living in Neopets Crossing as a waiter while he is off-duty. He works for a nebulous military body that he calls the ‘NeoForce’, apparently some branch of the Virtupets forces drawn from pets living on the planet proper dedicated to moving against Dr. Sloth’s holdouts wherever they come across them. It’s been several years since Sloth’s imprisonment, and occurrences of these resurgences are understandably low, so he finds himself with more and more free time.

Though the fighting has since calmed down, it has had an apparent effect on him, though not what one may at first think of when thinking about war veterans. Kyle had apparently been in that sort of life for most of his life off of Mystery Island, and isn’t quite sure what to do now that he’s left idle. He’s a little awkward and will often find himself in situations where he is at a loss for words. For that reason he sometimes prefers to shrink away to avoid embarrassing himself. The shyness tends to go away the more that one gets to knows him, though the nervous nature as a whole is there to stay in one form or another. This nature has also made him a little paranoid, and he can sometimes become suspicious of his friends or wrongfully assume that someone dislikes him when in reality no one bears any ill will. Kyle acknowledges these faults, but he feels that he can’t help himself, and he really hopes he can become a little bit more sociable by living here…

Kyle’s house is on the edge of town by the ocean atop a cliff. Its isolation and quiet location reflect its owner perfectly. Be sure to use the front door, though, it’s…rather well defended…

Short History (WIP):

Kyle was born to a carefree life in the more isolated reaches of Mystery Island. A peaceful land, very few destructive plots had taken place their in recent times. As such, the native islanders did what Neopets often did in peacetime—they partied and just generally had fun. No one was necessarily ignorant to the goings on outside of their island, but it was more that, with how turbulent Neopia’s world tended to be, peace time was just a very valuable thing.

Kyle himself was a bit sheltered because of this, but he wasn’t blind to the rest of the world himself. On quiet nights or mornings after the village’s romp around the beaches, he’d bury himself in history books and anything else he could find that told him of the outside world. Everything about it fascinated him and he quietly hoped to see the world when he got older. Now the problem would often come up of what he would do for money once he left, but was quickly resolved. Whatever machinery he could get his hands on in the rural village he always worked well with. Neopian technology is usually such a finicky thing, but not for him! He began saving up for his trip when he was young, fixing every scrap of broken technology he could find as a business, and looked on in anticipation of his future.

Time passed, he was nearly of age, and he had nearly saved enough points to set off from his home—which couldn’t have come any sooner. Truthfully, he had begun slowly tiring of the constant partying…after years and years of it, it was becoming wearying. Unfortunately, the end to it wouldn’t quite be on his terms.

Kyle was set to leave Mystery Island in the summer of Y10. A few days before he was to leave, Dr. Sloth made his return up in space. While most of his armies were up around the Virtupets station and Kreludor, they also had some scouts on the ground preparing space for the doctor’s bases of invasion. In the case of Mystery Island, that area was Kyle’s home village. It wasn’t listed on any maps, and Sloth’s scouts figured the area deserted. Finding their proposed landing spot occupied and without any time to change their plans, the course of action was obvious: clear the area.

The villagers were defenseless. The last thing that Kyle remembered was waking up in a pile of rubble as the Garoo were being shooed away by some soldiers—whom had come way too late to be of any actual help. By the time they had arrived, the hamlet was demolished, and all that remained were the smoldering piles of palm that used to be his home. This naturally devastated him. His family was nowhere to be found, and the few whom were left had gone after the attack, there not being much of a village to rebuild.

The soldiers who came to their aid offered him a home if he entered into service with them. With nowhere else to go, he took them up on their deal. He was devastated by what had happened to him, and to all of his family and friends. He wouldn’t have Sloth running around and doing to everyone what he did to him. He was going to help this ‘NeoForce’ put an end to it.

It was around this time that Kyle lost his Island coloring. Upon being brought in, he was forced to paint himself Blue as flashier colors would attract too much attention. It was an unusual case; pets that entered the NF were generally of plain colors to begin with. It was painful to let go of what he felt was a part of his identity as a Mystery Island native, but if it was something he had to do, then he would do it.

Initially, Kyle went into this fight with revenge on his mind as well as his more ‘noble’ goal of not wanting to have his fate happen to anyone else. As time went on and the fighting* began to gradually die down, he figured that this was not a healthy mindset to have, but it had already taken its effect on him. He’d gone from consistently happy to consistently angry, and he gravely disliked that once he realized it. He would calm himself down over time, but this and his lack of more normal social interaction brought on by the constant fighting had worn on him, and he exchanged his open anger with a reserved, awkward shyness. With Neopia’s villains becoming bolder and eviler as well, this mix eventually had an amount of fear added to it.

Eventually Kyle was allowed to go completely off duty for the first time in years as the last of the known major Sloth holdouts had been rooted out. He gave some thought to going back to Mystery Island, but decided against it as it reminded him too much of what he had lost. He had had enough of space for a while as well…where was the only place that he could live with a comfortably high level of technology and feel at home without actually going home or staying in the space station? Neopia Central seemed to have the best of both worlds, where he put his experience and restlessness as a soldier into work for the NeoPolice.

The time he spent in the Neo P.D. was a number of adventures all their own, but unfortunately for him, the lingering will of Sloth and his agents continued to harass him. Kyle managed to make a small name for himself as he proved himself a capable officer, but those newspaper headings were all that any vigilant-enough assassin needed to find him. During the high point in his career, a number of hitmen from a few Sloth loyalists had been attacking various NeoForce members infrequently even after the war was over. He was found and attacked several times, during which a number of other police were hurt. Because of this, he was let go from the Neo P.D., them being unable (or unwilling) to protect him, and he was moved to the Crossing where he would lead a quieter life. Hopefully, that was the last he would see of Neopia's oldest enemy, and he would be able to move on and find peace.

Favorite Food: Squid Hot Dog

Favorite Drink: Rocket Fizzy Drink

Extras:

-Left handed

-Kyle’s “de-coloring” is a bit of a sore point for him; he considers losing his Island color a little humiliating

-As an extension of his paranoia, many of the entrances to his house have been booby trapped. He has also released a Titanic Giant Squid into the pond nearby his home, which he warmly regards as his PetPet, but Can never be too careful, right?

-Always carries a Bzzt Blaster somewhere on his person. This is actually not an extension of his paranoia per se; this is apparently required in the disturbingly common event that Dr. Sloth (Clones) hires mercenaries or assassins to go after his(/their) enemies. He seems to have been targeted only once or twice and in pursuit of more important figures, but those few times have had a bit of a lingering effect on him.

-Kyle loves Mystery Island food. It reminds him of home.

*Remember that the NF handled more than just the initial Return of Dr. Sloth. They were present wherever they could help it, and handled a number of more isolated fiascoes not related to the Plots. Still though, they were mainly concerned with fighting Sloth, and their work generally was spent hunting the Sloth Clones and their minions.

Remember that you start off with no petpets until you buy it, It's ok to have either a Soilder job or Waiter but not both. You could say he's a soilder but is off duty for now.

Other than that everything is fine UwU
